Supervision and mentoring

Supervision and mentoring go hand in hand. Some would even consider them inseparable. Whilst certain types of supervision are often a requirement of our work, the support and guidance that we can find in each can not only enrich our work but also allow us to grow as unique and authentic practitioners. We believe in this kind of supervision and mentoring experience. We offer 1 h supervision and mentoring sessions based on your personal needs and line of work. These can be relevant to you if you are looking for a more regular arrangement or time-limited more specific focus.

We offer supervision and mentoring across different therapeutic modalities and different areas of therapeutic focus. We have experience of providing therapy across charitable sectors, primary and community mental health settings as well as secure in-patient psychological care, acute and rehabilitation services.

Dr Joanna’s supervision story:

‘I think I have sampled many different supervision types and styles before choosing what works best for me and what is congruent with my authentic self. I call this finding an AUTHENTIC SUPERVISON which is the best way you can be as a supervisor and at the receiving end of it (I’d like to think). Finding a match between myself and a supervisor was not without challenges. All the variables including supervisor’s experience, therapeutic modality, my own needs as a supervisee and different practicalities made this complex at times. Finding someone who experienced and understood requirements of training, coursework, therapeutic work and the unique work dynamics was important to me. Gladly

through my experiences I have found supervisory relationships which were all of that and more but learned from the ones which were less than… I have first experienced supervision as a Counselling Psychologist in training and was later able to combine this with my experience of clinical supervision during my D.Clin psychology training (I have later transferred my interest and trained as a Clinical Psychologist). Nevertheless, my own practice of supervision is informed by both of those experiences, training modes and therapeutic practices’.
